Deaths due to excessive use of drugs

Consumption of drugs is rapidly increasing from past 5 years. People are getting more and more addicted towards drugs consumption. Due to this addiction many people lost their life every year.

Major death causing drugs are Alcohol, Pain killers, Heroin.   

Alcohol is classed as depressant as it slows down the vital functioning. It is best understood as drug which reduces a person ability to think rationally and distorts his or her judgement. It is classified as depressant, the amount of alcohol consumed determines the type of effect. Its overdose can cause the ultimate death. If we see the trend of number of people died from 2005-2010 in India, US, UK. It clearly shows that the number of people died due to alcohol  increases from 8133 in 2005 to 11664 in 2010 in India, from 8342 in 2005 to 8863 in 2010 in US, from 6570 in 2005 to 8790 in 2010 in UK. It clearly shows that rise in number of people died in US is not so much as compare to India and UK.

Like wise alcohol painkillers are also harmful for the person if taken overdose of it or taking it for longer period of time. Painkillers do not cure, But they mask the pain. Someone continuously trying to dull the pain may find himself taking higher and higher doses. Which ultimately takes him/her to death. If we look at the number of people died due to pain killers from 2005-2010 in India, US, UK.

It shows the increase in number of people died due to pain killers from 4169 in 2005 to 6672 in 2010 in India, from 3219 in 2005 to 6518 in 2010 in US, from 4569 in 2005 to 6642 in 2010 in UK.

Heroin is a highly addictive, illegal drug. It is used by millions of addicts around the world who are unable to overcome the urge of continue taking this drug every day of their live - knowing that if they stop, they will face the horror of withdrawal. Most heroin is injected, creating additional risks for the user, who faces the danger of AIDS or other infection on top of the pain of addiction. Now if we comes to the number of people died due to heroin, like wise others it also shows the increase, from 2579 in 2005 to 6497 in 2010 in India, from 7729 in 2005 to 7272 in 2010 in US, from 3790 in 2005 to 6218 in 2010 in UK.

From all the above data it is clear that whether it is alcohol, pain killers or heroin, The number of people died due to these drugs increased.
